The automotive industry is one of the most important sectors of the Germany economy, accounting for 14% of employees and 40% of all exports nationally.

World renowned manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Daimler, Opel, Porsche and VW have secured Germany’s position as one of the top 3 automobile producers in the world (alongside USA and Japan).

Six million cars are built for the local market every year, with another 4.8 million exported around the world bearing the highly regarded ‘Made in Germany’ brand.

Many suppliers, such as metal, tyre and plastic producers, have helped make the automobile the most well known of all German products, and have enjoyed the benefits of its success.

Around 5 million employees work in the automotive industry. Cars are among the most well-known German products on the world market.
