Manufacturing
The largest manufacturing industries in Germany are; automotive, chemicals, electrical engineering, iron, optics and steel.
As the former East Germany develops, it is predicted that the nation’s economy will retain a powerful industrial component, exceeding 30% of the German GDP.
Quality, including low levels of scrap, has been a traditional strength of German companies. The efficiency that is synonymous with German manufacturing has lead to wastage of less than 2%.
The relation between workforce skills and high-quality production has also delivered quality products to its customers, often at lower costs than that of its competitors. There is a strong German presence at the top end of the market in manufacturing industries e.g. clothing, garden tools, manufactured foods.
Employee turnover is significantly lower in Germany compared with other Western European countries.
